Adar Poonawalla is a prominent Indian businessman and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Serum Institute of India (SII), the world's largest vaccine manufacturer by number of doses produced. Born in Pune, India, he received his education at the Bishop School, Pune, and later pursued studies at the University of Westminster in London. After returning to India, he joined the Serum Institute, founded by his father, Cyrus Poonawalla, in 1966. Initially, he focused on streamlining the company's export activities and aimed to make SII a global player in the vaccine market.
Under Adar Poonawalla's leadership, the Serum Institute has significantly expanded its vaccine portfolio and global reach.
