Avinash Deshpande - A Lifestory

A wellknown astrophysicist and teacher spent his career exploring the secrets of space. His work, over twenty years, greatly improved our knowledge of black holes and how galaxies change. His research, often in famous science magazines, got him a lot of praise. His important studies of huge black holes, shown at a big science meeting in 2018, were especially new and important. A friend said, "His work is amazing; he can make hard ideas easy to understand." Many who worked with him agree. He's also a great teacher; students say his classes are interesting and helpful, making hard things easy to learn. He helped many young scientists, many of whom are now very successful.
