Benoy Krishna Bose, often referred to as Benoy Basu, was a prominent Indian revolutionary and independence activist. Born on August 11, 1907, in the village of Rohitbog in the Munshiganj district of presentday Bangladesh, Bose displayed a fervent commitment to India's liberation from British rule from a young age. He received his early education in Dhaka and later enrolled in the Mitford Medical School, where he became deeply involved in revolutionary activities. Inspired by the ideals of nationalism and selfrule, he joined the Bengal Volunteers, a revolutionary group led by Subhas Chandra Bose.

Bose's dedication and courage quickly propelled him to the forefront of the movement. He played a key role in planning and executing daring acts of defiance against the British authorities. His most notable act was the attack on the Writers' Building in Kolkata on December 8, 1930, along with Badal Gupta and Dinesh Gupta. The trio, dressed in European attire, stormed the building, which served as the secretariat of the British government, and engaged in a fierce gun battle with the British officers.

The attack on the Writers' Building sent shockwaves through the British administration and served as a powerful symbol of resistance. Although the revolutionaries were eventually overwhelmed, their actions ignited a renewed sense of hope and determination among the Indian populace. Following the attack, Bose was severely wounded and subsequently arrested. Rather than face trial and potential execution, he chose to take his own life in prison on December 13, 1930, at the young age of 23. Benoy Bose's sacrifice cemented his place as a martyr in the Indian independence movement, inspiring generations to fight for freedom and selfdetermination. His name remains synonymous with courage, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to the cause of Indian independence.
