They made sure The Hindu spoke up for people who didn't have a voice, like the main characters in the movie 'Mother India' who fought against unfairness. While they were in charge, The Hindu changed to use new technology and grew bigger, becoming a newspaper for the whole country. They knew the news world was changing and helped the paper get through the change to digital news. They thought news reporting could teach and help people.
