Homen Borgohain - A Lifestory
Voice Of Assam, Chronicler Of Society, Insightful Storyteller

A well known person in Assamese writing and news, had a big impact on public talk for many years. Like someone watching society closely in a Satyajit Ray movie, he saw what was happening around him. His life started way before computers were common, back when words had a lot of power to change minds and start action, similar to how important events like the 1962 Sino Indian War probably changed how he saw the country. He was born in 1932, and he worked for many important newspapers and magazines. He was the editor of Amar Asom and Nagarik, where he shared his thoughts on social and political problems. He was known for being an honest newsman, and people respected him for it. A fellow writer said, "Homen Borgohain always kept to the best rules of good news writing." He was also a famous writer, winning an award in 1978 for his book "Pita Putra". Later, in 2015, he gave the award back to show he disagreed with growing unfairness, which showed how strong his beliefs were. He died on 12 May 2021, leaving behind a history of smart writing and a strong focus on honest news. He still has a big effect on Assamese writing and news, inspiring new writers and thinkers.
