A great leader in the Indian army, this officer had a long and important career. He's most known for leading the Western Command during the 1971 IndiaPakistan War. Movies like "Border" show parts of this war, although they don't focus on him specifically. He led the Indian army to a big win, freeing Bangladesh. Born on February 13, 1916, his army work started long before this big event. He fought in World War II, getting lots of experience. He was a great leader, smart and brave, earning the respect of his fellow officers. Someone said he was exceptionally brave and determined. He was also a good planner and inspired his soldiers. The 1971 war was the high point of his career. The quick victory under his command made him famous as a brilliant military leader. After the war, he kept serving India, retiring with many honors. While many details of his life aren't widely known, his place in Indian military history is secure. He died on September 12, 2005.
