He gave his life during a fight against rebels in Jammu and Kashmir in 01 November 2017. He had an important job in the fight and was very brave. He took down many rebels and kept his friends safe. This brave act, like something from an action movie, earned him the Ashok Chakra. This is India's highest award for bravery during peace. He was the first airman to get this award in 01 January 2018.
