His work lasted for many years and he saw some of the most important times of the 20th century. He did more than just watch; he helped make India's foreign plans, especially in the important years after India became free. His jobs took him all over the world, from Geneva to China, and finally to Moscow. There, he was India's ambassador to the Soviet Union for almost ten years, from 1952 to 1961. He wrote about talking to world leaders, giving important ideas about the Cold War and the hard link between India and the Soviet Union.
