Lalit Mansingh - A Lifestory

This person is a well known person in Indian work with other countries. They have spent their life working for their country around the world. Their work, which has gone on for many years, shows they care about making friends with other countries and helping India do well. They have dealt with hard world problems and stood for India with class and power. What they have done has been very helpful. After going to Mayo College and St. Stephen's College, Delhi, this person started working for the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1963. They quickly moved up, holding important jobs in different Indian offices in other countries. One important job was as the Indian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 1998 to 2001. During this time, the two countries became better friends and talked about things that were important to both of them. Later, they were India's Ambassador to the United States from 2001 to 2004. This was a very important time after the events of 9/11. During this time, they helped shape the friendship between India and the US, working together to fight terrorism and build a strong partnership. Besides working in other countries, this person was also the Foreign Secretary of India from 2003 to 2004. They helped guide India's plans for working with other countries. People who worked with them have said they are very smart, calm, and good at dealing with hard talks. They are a true person who works with other countries – they know a lot about what's going on in the world, they care about what's best for their country, and they try to make friends between countries.
