Narain Karthikeyan is a pioneering figure in Indian motorsport, renowned as the first Formula One driver from India. Born in Chennai in 1977, his passion for racing ignited at a young age, fueled by his father's own involvement in motorsport. Karthikeyan began his racing career in Indian Formula Maruti in 1993, quickly demonstrating his talent and securing numerous victories. He then progressed through various international racing series, including Formula Asia, British Formula Opel, and British Formula Three, consistently showcasing his speed and determination. A significant milestone came in 2001 when he became the first Indian to win a race in the British Formula Three International Series. His performances garnered attention, paving the way for his Formula One debut with the Jordan team in 2005. Throughout his Formula One career, which also included stints with the HRT and Hispania Racing teams, Karthikeyan faced challenges but remained a symbol of Indian motorsport on the global stage. Beyond Formula One, he has competed in various racing disciplines, including A1 Grand Prix, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and Super Formula.
