Naseem Bano was a prominent Indian actress who achieved stardom during the golden era of Hindi cinema. Born in Delhi, she was renowned for her captivating beauty, often referred to as "Beauty Queen" and "Pari Chehra" (Fairy Face) by her admirers. Her entry into the film industry was almost accidental; accompanying her mother to a film set, she caught the eye of a director who was immediately struck by her striking looks. Despite initial resistance from her family, especially her mother, she eventually made her debut in the 1935 film Khoonee Khazana.
Naseem Bano quickly rose to prominence, becoming one of the most soughtafter actresses of her time. She was particularly celebrated for her roles in historical and mythological dramas, where her regal presence and expressive eyes brought a unique charm to her characters. One of her most iconic roles was as the character of Hamida Banu Begum in Sohrab Modi's Pukar (1939), a film that showcased her dramatic range and cemented her status as a leading lady. She is also the mother of actress Saira Banu and motherinlaw of the legendary actor Dilip Kumar.
