Pete Best, born Randolph Peter Best in Madras, British India, on November 24, 1941, is primarily known as the original drummer for the Beatles. His family relocated to Liverpool, England, where his mother, Mona Best, opened the Casbah Coffee Club, a popular venue that played a significant role in the early development of the Merseyside music scene. It was at the Casbah where Best initially honed his drumming skills and met future Beatles members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. He officially joined the band in 1960, solidifying the lineup that would gain considerable local popularity in Liverpool and Hamburg.

During his tenure with the Beatles, Best's drumming style was considered powerful and distinctive, although some accounts suggest it differed from the evolving sound the band was striving for. He played on numerous recordings with the Beatles during their early days, including their audition for Decca Records in 1962, which ultimately proved unsuccessful. Despite their growing success and devoted fanbase, Best's time with the Beatles was abruptly cut short in August 1962.
