Praveen Kumar is a former Indian rightarm mediumpace bowler who represented India in international cricket. Born on October 2, 1986, in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, he was known for his prodigious swing bowling, making him a valuable asset in both Test and limitedovers formats. Kumar made his international debut in November 2007 in a One Day International (ODI) against Pakistan. He quickly established himself as a key member of the Indian bowling attack, especially in conditions that offered swing. His ability to move the ball both ways troubled batsmen and earned him considerable success.

Kumar was part of the Indian squad that won the 2008 Commonwealth Bank Series in Australia, playing a crucial role in the team's triumph. He also represented India in the 2011 Cricket World Cup, although he was later ruled out due to injury. In Test cricket, Kumar made his debut in 2008 against Australia. He was known for his aggressive bowling and his ability to pick up early wickets. His best Test performance came against England in 2011, where he took five wickets in an innings at Lord's.

Despite his talent, Kumar's international career was relatively shortlived. He played his last international match in 2012. Subsequently, he continued to play domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh. Off the field, Kumar faced some disciplinary issues, which may have contributed to his premature exit from international cricket. After retiring from all forms of cricket, he has occasionally been involved in commentary and analysis. While his career had its share of ups and downs, Praveen Kumar will be remembered as a bowler with exceptional swing skills who provided some memorable moments for Indian cricket fans.
