Rahul Dev Burman, affectionately known as Pancham Da, was a highly influential Indian music director. Born in Kolkata on June 27, 1939, his musical journey began early, nurtured by his father, the legendary Sachin Dev Burman. He displayed prodigious talent, playing the harmonica at age five and composing his first tune at nine. Burman revolutionized Bollywood music, blending traditional Indian sounds with Western influences like jazz, rock, and Latin rhythms. His career spanned from the early 1960s to the 1990s, composing music for over 300 films.
