Rajkumari Kaur - A Lifestory
Champion Of Indian Independence, Health, And Women'S Rights

A very important person in India's fight for freedom gave her life to help her country and fight for what was right. She was born on 02 February 1889 in Lucknow, India. Even though she came from a rich family, she chose to help others instead of enjoying her wealth. She really cared about helping, and Mahatma Gandhi had a big effect on her. She joined the Indian independence movement. Because she cared so much, she became a main member of the Indian National Congress. She helped make India's future. She took part in many campaigns, like the Salt Satyagraha of 1930, and was put in jail many times for it. People who knew her, like Sarojini Naidu, often said she never gave up and was very dedicated. They said she was "a true warrior for India." After India became free in 1947, she became the first Health Minister of the new India. She stayed in that job for ten years. While she was in charge, she made big changes to public health. One of these was starting the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in 1956. She also strongly supported women's rights and changes in society. She worked hard to make life better for women all over the country. Her work for the nation and all her hard work have left a mark on India's society and politics that will last a long time.
