Robin Uthappa is a former Indian cricketer known for his aggressive batting style and versatility on the field. Born on November 11, 1985, in Coorg, Karnataka, he emerged as a prominent figure in Indian cricket during the mid2000s. Uthappa was a righthanded batsman who could also contribute with occasional wicketkeeping duties. He burst onto the international scene in 2006, making his One Day International (ODI) debut against England. His fearless approach to batting, characterized by powerful hitting and innovative strokes, quickly made him a fan favorite. Uthappa was a key member of the Indian squad that won the 2007 ICC World Twenty20, playing crucial innings throughout the tournament.
Throughout his career, Uthappa represented India in ODIs and T20 Internationals, showcasing his talent and contributing valuable runs. He was also a consistent performer in domestic cricket, representing Karnataka and other teams in the Ranji Trophy and other tournaments. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Uthappa played for several franchises, including the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Chennai Super Kings. He achieved significant success in the IPL, winning titles with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and Chennai Super Kings in 2021. In the 2014 season, he was the highest runscorer, earning the Orange Cap. While he wasn't always a regular in the Indian national team, Uthappa remained a respected and impactful player in domestic and franchise cricket, known for his explosive batting and valuable experience. He announced his retirement from all forms of Indian cricket in September 2022.
