Roshan Kumari - A Lifestory

Roshan Kumari, a luminary in the world of classical Indian dance, is celebrated for her mastery of the Jaipur gharana of Kathak. Born in 1941 in Amritsar, Punjab, she inherited a rich artistic lineage, with her father, Fakir Mohammed, being a renowned musician and her mother, Zohra Begum, a classical singer. Her early exposure to music and dance fostered a deep passion for Kathak, which she began learning at a young age. Kumari's rigorous training under the tutelage of masters such as Pandit Hanuman Prasad, K.S. More, and Sunderlal Gangani shaped her into a technically brilliant and emotionally expressive dancer.
