Gallantry, Leadership: A Lieutenant Colonel, Forever Etched In History

The person was brave and special. He was not just any officer; he was Lieutenant Colonel, a hero of the Indian Army with many awards. He became the Maharaja of Jaipur in 1970, but he loved being in the army. He joined the 3rd Cavalry in 1954, which started his great army career. His best act was during the 1971 Indo Pakistani War. As a Major, he led the 10th Parachute Regiment in a brave act that won him the Maha Vir Chakra, India's second best award for bravery. People who worked with him often praised his smart plans and strong will. One officer said, "He led by example, making us all brave with his fearless spirit." Besides fighting, he was known for being nice and good at talking to people. He was India's High Commissioner to Brunei from 1994 to 1997.
