Shankha Ghosh was a prominent Indian poet and literary critic, widely regarded as a significant voice in Bengali literature. Born on February 5, 1932, in Chandpur, now in Bangladesh, his family later migrated to West Bengal, India. Ghosh's academic journey began at Presidency College, Kolkata, where he studied Bengali literature. He then pursued his master's degree from the University of Calcutta. Throughout his career, he held teaching positions at various prestigious institutions, including Presidency College, Jadavpur University, and VisvaBharati University.
Ghosh's poetic works are characterized by their profound exploration of human emotions, social realities, and philosophical themes.
