Born in 1931, he was more than just an artist; he was a person who told stories using paint and wood. This well known Indian painter and sculptor made a special place for himself in the world of modern art. His journey started way before the big Bollywood movie 'Sholay' came out in 1975, at a time when India was creating its own artistic style. He didn't copy what was popular. Instead, he made his own way, getting ideas from Indian stories, folk art, and the lively scenes of everyday life. He tried different ways of creating art, from wall paintings to wood carvings, always going beyond his limits. People he worked with often liked his new ideas. One time, a professor said, "His work shows how strong imagination can be; he sees stories where others just see wood or paint." His art wasn't just in galleries. He thought art should be for everyone, so he often joined in public art projects and workshops. He once said, "Art should be a talk, not just one person speaking." This idea shaped his career and what he left behind. From after India became independent to the year 2000, his work still inspires artists and people who love art, reminding us of how beautiful and powerful Indian art is. He passed away in 2020, which was the end of a time, but his art still lives on, showing his vision.
