Shivshankar Menon - A Lifestory

A person known for smart thinking in Indian foreign plans is a well known diplomat. Their work has lasted many years and shows a good grasp of world events. Like a good actor in a tricky political story – maybe like the worries shown in the movie "Argo" – they have handled tough world relationships with great skill. Their time in public work shows they want to shape India's place in the world. They were India's Ambassador to China from 01 January 2000 to 01 January 2003, when the relationship between the two countries was growing. They were also Foreign Secretary from 01 January 2006 to 01 January 2009. In that role, they helped decide India's foreign policy goals. Later, from 01 January 2011 to 01 January 2014, they were the National Security Advisor. People who worked with them have often said they are very smart and stay calm, even when things are hard. One person said they could "see ten steps ahead, like a chess master." They were involved in important events, such as the India US nuclear deal. This shows they can make hard deals and get people to agree. Their book, "Choices: Inside the Making of India's Foreign Policy", came out in 01 January 2016. It gives good information about how India's foreign policy was made when they were in office. Their work has made them a key person in modern Indian diplomacy.
