Sitara Devi was a highly celebrated and influential Indian classical dancer, primarily known for her exceptional mastery and passionate performances in the Kathak style. Born in Kolkata in 1920 to a Brahmin family deeply rooted in traditional arts, Sitara Devi's journey into dance began at a very young age. Her father, a Sanskrit scholar and Kathak exponent, recognized her prodigious talent and provided her with rigorous training from the age of five. This early immersion in the art form laid the foundation for her future brilliance.

Throughout her illustrious career, Sitara Devi captivated audiences with her electrifying stage presence, unmatched technical skill, and ability to infuse Kathak with a vibrant and expressive energy.
