Sri Chinmoy - A Lifestory
Inner Peace, World Harmony: Spiritual Guide Lighting The Path

This person was good at many things, and most people knew them as a spiritual leader from India who wanted peace and understanding. They were not just spiritual; they were also good at sports, art, writing poems, and music. Their main idea was about going beyond yourself. They thought people could find peace inside and help make the world better by trying to be better than they are. Born in Shakpura, East Bengal (now Bangladesh), in 1931, as Chinmoy Kumar Ghose, they went to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in 1944. They stayed there for 20 years, learning about spiritual things. In 1964, they moved to New York City to share what they knew with people in the West. They did more than just teach spiritual ideas. They started the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team to help people find themselves and learn discipline through running. Because they wanted peace, they also started the Sri Chinmoy Oneness Home Peace Run, where people all over the world carry a torch together. They even led meditation for people who worked at the United Nations, starting in 1970. They did this until they died in 2007. They made a lot of art, including thousands of songs, poems, and paintings. They thought art could make people feel better and give them hope. This person left behind a history of peace, trying to be better, and helping others. They inspired people from all walks of life to try to make the world a better place.
