Sukhdev was a prominent Indian revolutionary and socialist, best known for his involvement in India's struggle for independence. Born into a Hindu family in Ludhiana, Punjab, his early life was marked by witnessing the atrocities committed by the British Raj, which fueled his desire for complete freedom. He became deeply involved in revolutionary activities from a young age, joining the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA), an organization advocating for complete independence and social justice. Sukhdev played a crucial role in organizing protests and strikes against the British government, mobilizing students and the general public to participate in the freedom movement. He was a staunch believer in armed resistance as a means to overthrow British rule, contrasting with the nonviolent approach advocated by Mahatma Gandhi.

Sukhdev's commitment to revolutionary ideals led him to participate in several daring acts against the British authorities. He was instrumental in planning and executing the Lahore Conspiracy Case, which involved the assassination of British police officer John Saunders in 1928. This act was a response to the death of Lala Lajpat Rai, a respected nationalist leader, who was fatally injured during a police baton charge while protesting the Simon Commission. Sukhdev, along with Bhagat Singh and Shivaram Rajguru, were arrested and tried for their involvement in the assassination. Despite facing overwhelming evidence and a biased legal system, Sukhdev remained steadfast in his beliefs, using the trial as a platform to propagate his revolutionary ideology and denounce British imperialism. On March 23, 1931, Sukhdev, Bhagat Singh, and Rajguru were hanged for their actions, becoming martyrs and symbols of resistance against colonial rule. His sacrifice ignited a wave of nationalism and further fueled the independence movement, solidifying his place as a revered figure in Indian history.
