• 🏏 Early and Domestic Career
• Yadav began his cricketing journey in Mumbai, playing club cricket primarily for Parsi Gymkhana Cricket Club, along with teams such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Dadar Union. He made his List A debut for Mumbai against Gujarat in February 2010, followed by his T20 debut against Hyderabad a month later. His first-class debut came against Delhi in December 2010.
• During the 2011–12 Ranji Trophy season, Yadav emerged as Mumbai’s leading run-scorer, amassing 754 runs in nine matches at an impressive average of over 68. He was also part of the India Under-22 team, scoring 721 runs at an average above 80, including two centuries. For his outstanding performances, he was awarded the MA Chidambaram Trophy for the Best Under-22 Cricketer in December 2011.
• Yadav captained Mumbai briefly during the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy, scoring 690 runs in ten matches. He was part of the Mumbai team that won the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy, finishing among the top five run-getters with 788 runs, including three centuries. He continued his consistent form in the 2016–17 season, scoring over 600 runs for the third consecutive year, although Mumbai finished runners-up.

• Yadav was named in India’s T20I squad against England in February 2021 and made his international debut on 14 March 2021. In his first innings as a batter, he famously hit the first ball he faced for a six, becoming the first Indian to achieve this feat in T20Is. He went on to score a half-century, earning praise from captain Virat Kohli.
• He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in July 2021 and scored his maiden half-century in the format shortly after. Though selected for Test squads against England and New Zealand, he did not feature in any matches during this phase.

• In July 2022, Yadav scored his maiden T20I century against England at Trent Bridge, becoming only the fifth Indian to score a T20I hundred. Later that year, he became the fastest player to reach 1,000 T20I runs, achieving the milestone in just 573 balls.
• On 30 October 2022, he reached the number one ranking in ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings. During the 2022 T20 World Cup, he finished as India’s third-highest run-scorer and later scored his second T20I century against New Zealand, becoming only the second Indian to score two T20I centuries in a calendar year. • Yadav made his Test debut against Australia in February 2023, which remains his only Test appearance as of August 2024. He was appointed vice-captain for India’s T20I series against West Indies in 2023 and later captained India in multiple T20I series against Australia and South Africa.
• He was part of the squads that finished runners-up in the 2023 Cricket World Cup and won the 2023 Asia Cup. His leadership and performances earned him the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award again in 2023, making it two consecutive wins.

• Yadav began his IPL career with the Mumbai Indians in 2012 before being picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014, where he won his first IPL title. He returned to the Mumbai Indians in 2018 and became one of the team’s most consistent batters, winning IPL titles in 2019 and 2020.

• Suryakumar Yadav was appointed captain of the Indian national team for the first time in November 2023, marking a significant milestone in his international career. Following the retirement of Rohit Sharma from T20 Internationals, he was re-appointed as the full-time captain of India’s T20I team in July 2024.
