V. K. Krishna Menon, a very important person in Indian politics and a strong supporter for India's freedom, made a lasting mark on the country's history. Born in 1896, he became a very important person in the Indian freedom movement, working hard with leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru. His hard work meant he became a key person in talks for independence from British rule. His smart brain and strong speaking skills made him a tough person to deal with in the world. He was India's first High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 1947 to 1952, and later a key member of the Indian group at the United Nations. During the 1950s, he strongly supported India's foreign policy of not taking sides, getting both praise and blame. His time as Defence Minister from 1957 to 1962 was maybe the most talked about part of his job. The 1962 Sino Indian War, and the following investigation by the government, made him leave his job, even though he said he was not guilty. Even with the political problems, his help to India's growth and his strong belief in his ideas were clear. Krishna Menon kept working in Parliament until he died in 1974. He was a person with a complicated personality. Those who worked with him knew he was smart and very dedicated to the country.
