Vikramaditya Motwane is a prominent Indian film director, producer, and screenwriter, recognized for his contributions to contemporary Hindi cinema. He began his career assisting directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali on films such as "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" and "Devdas," gaining valuable experience in the intricacies of filmmaking. Motwane made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed "Udaan" in 2010. This comingofage drama, which explores themes of adolescence and the struggle against oppressive authority, garnered significant praise for its nuanced storytelling and strong performances. "Udaan" earned numerous awards, including several Filmfare Awards, establishing Motwane as a director with a distinct voice.
Following the success of "Udaan," Motwane directed "Lootera" in 2013, a period romance inspired by O. Henry's "The Last Leaf."
