Vishnu Pingle was an Indian revolutionary and a member of the Ghadar Party, a significant organization dedicated to overthrowing British rule in India. Born into a Marathi Brahmin family in 1888 in Talegaon Dhamdhere, near Pune, he pursued his early education in Pune before venturing to the United States for higher studies. He enrolled at the University of Washington, Seattle, to study mechanical engineering. While in the US, Pingle became deeply involved with the burgeoning Ghadar movement, inspired by its leaders and ideology advocating for India's independence.

His engineering background proved valuable to the Ghadar Party. He was entrusted with the crucial task of acquiring and transporting weapons to India to instigate an armed rebellion. Pingle played a pivotal role in coordinating efforts to smuggle arms and explosives into the country, working alongside other prominent Ghadarites. He returned to India with the intention of sparking a mutiny within the British Indian Army, aiming to capitalize on the existing discontent among Indian soldiers.

Pingle's mission led him to the Punjab region, where he collaborated with Rash Behari Bose, another revolutionary leader, to orchestrate the planned uprising. They worked to infiltrate various army cantonments, attempting to incite soldiers to revolt. However, their plans were ultimately betrayed to British authorities by a mole within the movement. As a result, Pingle was arrested in March 1915 in Meerut, carrying incriminating evidence related to the planned rebellion. He was subsequently tried, convicted of treason, and sentenced to death. Vishnu Pingle was executed on November 16, 1915, at the Lahore Central Jail, becoming a martyr in the Indian independence movement. His dedication and sacrifice continue to inspire those fighting for freedom and justice.
