Her childhood was influenced by her twin sisters, Licha and Lima, who were involved in kickboxing. Their dedication to the sport sparked Lovlina’s interest in combat sports from a young age.
Despite financial challenges, she pursued her passion for boxing with determination and support from her family.
Lovlina was noticed and selected by renowned Coach Padum Chandra Bodo at the “Sports Authority of India” (SAI) and “SAI Regional Centres” (SRC) Guwahati in 2012 to learn the basics of boxing and strive for excellence in the sport.
Later, she was coached by Sandhya Gurung.
She won a bronze medal at the “Asian Boxing Championships” in Vietnam in November 2017 and the President’s Cup in Astana in June 2017.
Her selection for the “2018 Commonwealth Games” was attributed to her success at the inaugural “India Open” in February 2018.
In 2019, Lovlina was selected for her second “Women’s World Boxing Championships” in Ulan-Ude, Russia, held from October 3–13. She reached the semi-finals after defeating Morocco’s Bel Ahbib Oumayma 5–0 in the round of 16 match.
Lovlina secured the bronze medal in the 69 kg category after a close 2-3 defeat to China’s Yang Liu in the semi-final.
In March 2020, she secured her Olympic berth in the 69 kg category with a decisive 5–0 victory over Maftunakhon Melieva of Uzbekistan at the “2020 Asia & Oceania Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament.” This achievement made her the first sportswoman from Assam to qualify for the Olympics.
Later, she earned a bronze medal at the “Asian Olympic Qualifiers” despite losing to Gu Hong of China in a unanimous 5-0 verdict.
Lovlina then underwent training in Assisi, Italy, from October 15 to December 5, 2020, in preparation for the “World Olympic” qualifying event scheduled for May – June 2021.
In 2022, Lovlina was appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police by the Assam Government.
Additionally, in May 2022, she was elected as the Chair and a voting member on the Board of Directors for the “International Boxing Association (amateur) Athletes’ Committee.”
