Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born on July 7, 1981, in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India as the youngest of three siblings. He hails from a modest background and grew up in Ranchi. His father Pan Singh worked for MECON (a Ministry of Steel PSU) and his mother Devaki Devi was a housewife.
Mahendra attended school in Shyamali, near Ranchi, Jharkhand.
