Hemus origins arent readily available in my database. My search through history, myths, and language databases came up empty.

This names connection to a powerful god, whose earthly form is very popular, is strong. Krishna is the god, and his earthly form is often seen as the same. Radha, Krishnas beloved, is another important figure. Janmashtami celebrates Krishnas birth, and Holi, a colorful festival, is linked to his fun-loving side. Other festivals celebrate parts of this names life and teachings, though they arent as famous.

People might shorten it to Hem or Hemi, but these arent really established variations. Basically, the name Hemu stays pretty much the same.
