The Aaljakars are a Tamil-speaking Hindu caste found in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. They are a sub-group of the Aalwar community, and are also known as the Aalwar Kurubas. They are agricultural labourers, and are believed to have originated in the state of Tamil Nadu. The Aaljakars are a Scheduled Caste, and are also known as the Aalwar Kurubas, or the Kuruba Pattali. They have a variety of customs, including celebrating the Hindu festival of Pongal.
