Dachau is a city in southern Germany, located on the river Neckar. It is the second-largest city in the state of Bavaria after Munich. The city is the administrative seat of the district of Dachau. As of 2006, the population of the city was 167,812. Dachau was first mentioned in 794, as a place where the Saxons were pagan worshiping idols. It was mentioned in a document in 902 as a castle of the ministeriales of the Holy Roman Emperor.
