Description:
Arundhati Roy Arundhati Roy is an Indian author, political commentator and activist. She was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, in 1955. She studied at the University of Cambridge, where she received her BA in 1977. She then moved to the United States, where she completed an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Iowa in 1981. She returned to India and became a journalist, working for The Statesman and The Indian Express. In 1992, she published her first book, The God of Small Things. Her second book, The Tower of London, was published in 2003. She has since written a number of other books, including The Ministry of Utmost Happiness, The Ministry of Fear, and The Ministry of Truth. Roy is a recipient of the Booker Prize, the Sahitya Akademi Award, and the National Book Critics Circle Award.
