The BAMPURAMs are a traditional martial caste and are involved in agriculture, trade, and manufacturing. The BAMPURAMs are also involved in the Hindu temple worship and are known for their devotion to the Hindu god Vishnu. The BAMPURAMs have a caste council and are divided into five sub-castes: the BAMPURAM, the PADIYAN, the KANCHAN, the PADMAVATHI, and the KANCHANELLI.
