The Bettaswamis are an Aboriginal people who reside in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The Bettaswamis are one of the three main Aboriginal groups in the Kimberley region, the others being the Yiwi and the Noongar. The Bettaswamis are believed to have originated from the Banyule region of Victoria. They migrated to the Kimberley region about 500 years ago. The Bettaswamis live in villages along the banks of the Fitzroy River and its tributaries. They are skilled basketmakers and have a rich culture and customs. The Bettaswamis speak the Bettaswami language, which is a dialect of the Noongar language.
