At the age of twelve, he began his religious studies and began to learn the principles of Sikhism. In 1940, Bhai Mahavir Singhji married Kaur Sahibzada. The couple had two children, a son and a daughter. In 1946, Bhai Mahavir Singhji enlisted in the Indian Army and served in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947. After the war, he returned to civilian life and began to work as a farmer. In the early 1960s, Bhai Mahavir Singhji began to experience a deep sense of spiritual calling. He began to learn about the principles of Sikhism and began to practice meditation and yoga. In 1966, he traveled to India's Golden Temple to meet Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book. Upon his return, he began to preach the principles of Sikhism to others and began to offer humanitarian aid to the community. Bhai Mahavir Singhji founded the Bhai Mahavir Singh Ji Foundation in 1984 to provide humanitarian aid to the community. The organization has provided assistance to victims of natural disasters, famine, and poverty. Bhai Mahavir Singhji is also the author of several books, including The Way of the Saint and The Bhai Mahavir Singh Ji Story. He continues to serve the community through his work with the Bhai Mahavir Singh Ji Foundation.
