The name Bosnian is derived from the Latin word Bosna, which referred to the medieval Bosnian kingdom and to the surrounding region. The medieval Bosnian kingdom was named after the Bosnian town of Bosa. The Bosnian language has a number of variations, including Bosnian Cyrillic, Bosnian Latin, and the Croatian variant. Bosnian is the most widely used variant in the media.
