Description:
The Chakshupta dynasty was a Hindu dynasty that ruled over parts of North India from the 4th to 6th centuries. The dynasty is believed to have been founded by Chakshupta, a general in the army of the Gupta emperor Chandragupta II. The dynasty reached its zenith under the rule of King Harsha (r. 647-668). The dynasty declined after the death of Harsha and was replaced by the Chalukya dynasty.
