The Chalakapuri dynasty ruled parts of present-day Karnataka and Kerala between the 7th and 12th centuries. The Chalakapuri dynasty is noted for its patronage of literature and the arts. The name Chalakapure is also found in other parts of India, such as in the Chalakapuram region of Tamil Nadu.
