The Chandhiralekas are believed to descend from a Rajput prince who migrated from Rajasthan to the Konkan region of Maharashtra in the 17th century. They are now found mainly in the districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Palghar. The Chandhiralekas are a agricultural community, and are involved in farming, weaving, and carpentry. They are also found in the service sector, particularly as agricultural labourers.
