They are agricultural labourers and are traditionally involved in the cultivation of cotton, sugarcane, and other crops. There are also a small number of Kusakars who are involved in the manufacturing of textiles and other goods. The Kusakars are a Hindu community and their customs and traditions are based on Hinduism. They speak the Marathi language.
