CHEMMANDAGOUNDAR The Chemandagoundar are a Muslim community originating from the Chemand district of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. They are a sub-group of the Balti people and speak the Chemand dialect of Balti. The Chemandagoundar are believed to have migrated from Chem in the 19th century. They are farmers and traders and are found in villages throughout the Baltistan region. They are generally tolerant of other cultures and religions and are well-known for their craftsmanship in the production of carpets and rugs. The Chemandagoundar are a small community and there is little information available about their customs and culture. However, they are believed to be very religious and observant of Islamic traditions.
