The Cherukunnummal are an Aboriginal people of the Northern Territory. They are one of the Yolngu nations and are located around the Gulf of Carpentaria. They have a rich culture and history, and their customs and traditions are unique. The Cherukunnummal are believed to have originated from the Arafura Islands. They migrated to the Gulf of Carpentaria around 2,000 years ago. The Cherukunnummal are currently divided into two main groups, the Yolngu people and the Djab Wurrung people.
