Description:
The Chakma people are a Muslim ethnic group in the Indian state of Meghalaya. They are the descendants of the ancient Khasi people. The Chakmas are believed to be the only Muslim community in Meghalaya. They speak the Chakma language, which is a member of the Mon-Khmer language family. The Chakmas are also known for their distinctive traditional dress, which includes a long, colorful scarf called a chhap.
