The Chikkenti people are a Turkic people who live in the Chikkent district of eastern Turkey. They are the descendants of the Chikkenti Turks, a nomadic people who migrated from Central Asia in the 11th century. The Chikkenti Turks were allied with the Seljuk Turks, and played an important role in the fall of the Byzantine Empire in the 12th century. The Chikkenti Turks were also involved in the Mongol invasions of Anatolia, and later became a part of the Ottoman Empire.
