The Chinachabanakars are a caste of Tamil Brahmins who trace their lineage to the sage Chinachabanakar. They are also known as the Kallar. The Chinachabanakars are a sub-division of the Kallar community. They are found in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, particularly in the Thanjavur and Tirunelveli districts. They are also found in the neighbouring states of Kerala and Karnataka. The Chinachabanakars are a priestly caste and are involved in the performance of religious rites. They are also engaged in the traditional occupation of weaving cotton cloth.
