The Chinnahabibs are a Muslim community originating in the Chinna Haab area of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. They are a sub-group of the larger Ahmadi community. The Chinnahabibs are a Shia Muslim community and are descendants of the Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Abbas ibn Ali. The Chinnahabibs trace their ancestry back to Abbas ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. Abbas ibn Ali was killed in the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE. After his death, his followers, known as the Ahmadi Muslims, maintained his legacy and continue to practice Shia Islam. The Chinnahabibs are a small community, numbering about 10,000 people. They are concentrated in Karachi, but also reside in Hyderabad, India. The Chinnahabibs are a religious and cultural minority, and face discrimination and persecution from the Sunni Muslim majority in Pakistan. The Chinnahabibs speak the Chinna Haab dialect of Sindhi. They are Sunni Muslims, and follow the Hanafi school of Islamic jurisprudence. The Chinnahabibs have their own customs and traditions, which vary from family to family. Some common customs include celebrating religious festivals, wearing traditional clothing, and eating special foods.
