CHINTHACHETLA is a Native American surname. The name is derived from the Choctaw word chinna hatche, meaning 'little stream.' The Choctaw name is also spelled Chinnahatchee. The Chinna Hatchee people were one of the Five Civilized Tribes of the southeastern United States. The Chinna Hatchee Nation was located in present-day Monroe and Jackson counties in Alabama. The Chinna Hatchee were removed to Indian Territory in 1838.
