The Chirujallu are an indigenous people of the North American continent, who are also known as the Acoma, the Pueblo of Acoma, and the Pueblo of Zia. The Chirujallu are believed to have migrated to the American Southwest from the Four Corners area in the 12th century. They are believed to have been the first inhabitants of the Acoma Pueblo, and are the only pueblo in the United States to have a continuously functioning government. The Chirujallu are a matrilineal society, and the women are responsible for most of the community's social and ceremonial activities. The Chirujallu language is a member of the Zuni language family.
